EMDR Therapy

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is an evidenced-based treatment for recovering from traumatic or distressing experiences, and can be used as well for other experiences such as anxiety or phobias. EMDR can be used regardless of when the experience occurred (many years ago, or just recently).

In an EMDR therapy session, I will guide you bring up the experience while simultaneously engaging in eye movement or other forms of movement, such as tapping, to reduce the vividness and emotion associated with the traumatic memories. When the experience is desensitized, I will then guide you to connect a positive belief about yourself to this experience. Throughout the entire process, there will be a great focus on your feelings of safety and maintaining connection to the present moment while reprocessing the past.

EMDR Intensives

An EMDR intensive may be a good fit for you if you want to process your experience quicker and heal faster. Intensives are individualized to the needs of each client and the specific experience you want to work through. Intensives can last 3-4 hours or 1-2 days. The cost for 1-day of an EMDR intensive is $750 (6 hours of therapy, multiple breaks, and time for lunch). I do not take insurance for EMDR intensives.

If you would like to consider EMDR therapy or EMDR intensives, please schedule a free consultation with me so that together we can determine if either of these options are a good fit for you.
